Which is the slave—man or machine ?
Ford's answer was to pose the problem of a man unable
to earn a good living without machinery. Would
you withhold the machinery because attendance upon it
may be monotonous ? Or would you put him in the way
of a good living? And would a man be happier for using
the machine to less than its capacity? Would he be
happier for producing less than he might and consequently
getting less than his share of the world's goods
in exchange?
